Customised probiotics

Probiotics are living organisms that, in adequate amounts, can have a beneficial effect on our health and positively influence the development of the gut microbiome. Safe and tested “friendly” bacteria that naturally inhabit our digestive tract are used as probiotic cultures.

Unopened containers should be stored in the refrigerator (at 4–8°C). Before opening, remove the container from the refrigerator and let it temper at room temperature (approx. 25°C) for at least 3 hours. After opening, keep at normal room temperature. Make sure the container is always closed properly. Improper storage may result in a decrease in the number of live probiotic bacteria. Storing and transporting probiotics is quite easy thanks to the special aluminium container. By tempering the open container and keeping it at a stable room temperature, you don’t have to worry about taking probiotics with you on vacation. But be careful: it is important not to expose the container to direct sunlight or leave it open. The moment moisture gets into the container, the viability of the probiotic bacteria might decrease.

From a legislative point of view, probiotics are considered dietary supplements.

From a legislative point of view, probiotics are not suitable for children under 3 years of age, pregnant as well as lactating women. If your child is over 3 years old, they can take probiotics. Should they have difficulty swallowing the capsule, it can be opened and its contents put into a lukewarm drink. This will, however, slightly reduce their effect.

In our bacterial cultures bank, we have several dozen different species of probiotic bacteria belonging to the Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus genera, which make up the largest part of the custom probiotic mix. In some cases, we also add Streptococcus or Enterococcus to the probiotic mix.

Probiotics may be associated with some partial risks, such as hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, etc. Most probiotic strains are found in the human digestive tract under physiological circumstances, and these strains normally do not pose any risk to their host. Some people experience side effects when taking probiotics, such as digestive problems – constipation, flatulence, bloating, diarrhoea. These adverse reactions usually disappear within a few days or weeks as your body gets used to the probiotic bacteria. If you suffer from specific conditions such as SIBO or histamine intolerance, inappropriately chosen probiotic strains can worsen your condition.

Custom probiotics are safe for people with lactose intolerance, milk protein and gluten allergies. The product does not come into contact with milk and is completely safe. It contains lactic acid bacteria, which, unlike milk protein, are not an allergen. Custom probiotics are free of dairy, soy, corn, wheat and gluten. If you are still not sure, consult your doctor about the possible use of probiotics.

Yes, a large number of studies have been conducted regarding the effects of probiotic supplementation, both in the Czech Republic and abroad. For each client, we assess the structure of the microbiome individually, taking into account the bacterial groups typical for certain anamnesis. After analysing the sample and evaluating the client’s questionnaire, we prepare tailor-made probiotics.

The analysis is a condition of the probiotic treatment. It is necessary to analyse the sample and process it so that the resulting probiotics are truly tailored. Therefore, this option is not available.

The gut microbiome is a highly variable community. It is constantly influenced by various internal factors, such as diet, stress, physical activity, antibiotic treatment, or external factors, such as the microbiomes of other people, animals and the environment we encounter on a daily basis. In a study on faecal transplants in patients with recurrent Clostridium difficile infection, it was found that although the day after FMT the donor’s microbiome is identical to the recipient’s microbiome, over the next 84 days of sampling, the microbiome takes on a life of its own and eventually becoming completely different from the donor. Likewise, with individual probiotic supplementation, a healthy, varied lifestyle must be followed to achieve a permanent change in the microbiome. Individual probiotic supplementation will initiate changes in the microbiome, it will help to maintain these changes, but your lifestyle is absolutely key to maintaining a positive change in the long term.

Unfortunately, food intolerances cannot be recognised from microbiome analysis. We also do not analyse fungi, parasites or yeast and focus exclusively on bacteria. From the results of the analysis, you will learn how diverse your gut microbiome is and what percentage of friendly and hostile bacteria it contains.
